Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Following Christ is definitely counter cultural. One of the biggest agendas that pushes against the call to follow Christ is the battle against christianity and what many would call secular humanism. Many may not be familiar with the term “secular humanism” but you have seensome of the ideas that push it. Let me share some of the more prolific differences between christianity and this idea being indoctrinated throughout our society.
|God exist. He is the center of all things||God does not exist. Man is the center of all things|
|God created the world||The universe cam about by random chance. There is no designer|
|God created humans in his image for a purpose. Humans exist to glorify God.||Humans exist for no ultimate purpose other than their own happiness.|
|Humanity is totally depraved and has rebelled against a perfect God.||Humanity is good.|
|Morality comes from God and is revealed in the Bible||Morality is relative. There is no absolute standard of right and wrong.|
|Jesus is the way, truth, and life. Salvation comes by faith in Jesus.||Jesus is not God. Humanity has the power to save themselves|
|Death ushers us into eternal life or eternal death.||Death is the end of all existence.|
We have to be very careful because the lessons are very deceptive and methodical. The philosophy of secular humanism pushes again the teachings of scriptures and open people up to some of the most dangerous lifestyles.
It is so vital that we possess what is called a “Biblical worldview”. These philosophies are not going away. Their teachings will become much stronger and even more forceful. We have to build a platform of negating false teachings with teaching God’s word, and countering these teachings. The influence of a false narrative is growing stronger. We all need to remember this: just because it sounds good does not necessarily mean it is actually good.
Awaken to the messages that are indoctrinating our lives. When something happens in the world around us we need to make sure we teach the mind of God through the lens of the Bible.
