The God of All Comfort

1 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

A tribulation is a situation or circumstance that applies tremendous amounts of pressure to our lives.  Tribulations come in different magnitudes.  We face the ones that seem easy to handle and we face the ones that seem like they are about to crush us into a million pieces.  I find that allows tribulations to enter our lives for a purpose:

  • To Propel us toward the Lord:  Without tribulations we become self-sufficient.  Tribulation propels us back to the Lord.  A tribulation causes us to go from independent to dependent.
  • To Prepare us to Help Others:  Experience is always the best education.  We use that education to help others deal with the troubled times of life.
  • To Produce more Faith:  God has given all of us the measure of faith.  The tribulations of life are the active ingredient that helps us reach deep within our spirit for the faith that is required to make it through the given situation.

He is truly the God of ALL Comfort.

Today’s Challenge:  Don’t allow the tribulations of life crush you, but use them to propel you!

  1. and to point us to unknown repeated sin. He has brought up to me things that I thought I was over or that I had handled only to find that I still held a grudge or anger. Great post!
